Privacy Policy

Last update: September 2014

We know that you care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy very seriously. We want you to understand exactly how and why we use your information.

This document is our Privacy Policy, which explains:
  • What information we collect and why we collect it.
  • How we use that information.
  • The choices we offer, including how to access, update and protect information.

This Privacy Policy is part of and incorporated into the Terms Of Use governing the use of the Evasium websites, web applications and other software. It applies to all interactions with Notiflux.

Our goal in developing our privacy practices is to allow your participation to remain as anonymous as you choose so you can make smart decisions about how you use Notiflux. We never sell the personal information you share with us. We do take efforts to make sure the platform keeps working. This includes using your information, where necessary, to stop spam and other activities that violate the user agreement. We take the private nature of your personal information very seriously, and are committed to protecting it. To do that, we’ve set up procedures to ensure that your information is handled responsibly and in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws.

What information is collected about you?
We collect information to provide better services to all of our users - from figuring out basic stuff, like which language you speak, to more complex things like which ads you'll find most useful. We collect information in two ways:
  • Information that we obtain from your use of our services (Log data)
We may collect information about the services that you use and how you use them: your domain name and host for Internet access; the Internet address of the site from which you came; your computer's IP address and information about its operating system, browser and host; the date and time you access the services and the pages you visit.
  • Information that you give us
You also may provide personal information when you post content or submit materials to some of our Sites and Services. It is always your choice, or the choice of anyone acting for you, whether to provide personal information. However, some information must be provided to participate in certain activities (such as instant messaging or accessing some restricted areas), so the decision not to provide information might limit or eliminate your ability to participate in those. The kinds of personal information we will request about you typically includes your gender, name and email address.
As you interact with Notiflux as a registered user, we save certain information about these interactions and your preferences: subscriptions, preferred languages, score, voting data, and date of last login.

Cookies and similar technologies
Most Evasium websites use "cookies", which are small text files stored on your device, to help operate the sites and collect certain information for record-keeping purposes. For instance, we use cookies to store your preferences and settings, help with authentication, provide targeted ads, combat fraud and analyse site operations.
We may place a cookie on the browser of your computer. The use of cookies is common on websites and many major websites use them to provide useful features to their visitors. The cookie itself does not contain any personally identifying information, but may be used to tell when your computer has contacted our Site. We never use or install spyware on your computer. We may use cookies, clear gifs, and log file information to:
  • Store information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Sites
  • Collect anonymous analytics data such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc.;
  • Check entries, submissions, and status in any interactive portion of the Services.
Most browsers include an option to clear existing cookies or reject new ones. However, if you do this, it’s important to understand that many features of our Services may not function as intended or may not be available if your cookies are disabled. For example, we may not remember your language preferences. We use a tool called Google Analytics to help us understand how users interact with our website. It tells us aggregate usage and traffic information, such as how the site was accessed, how long visitors stayed, and the number of first-time visitors to the site. By knowing how people use Notiflux, we can make it better. To learn more about Google Analytics and how it uses your data, please visit google.com/analytics/learn/privacy.html.

Our Use of Information
We use the information we collect to operate, improve, maintain and personalize the products and services we offer, to develop new ones and to protect Evasium and our users. We also may use the information to communicate with you, for example, using your email address to inform you about upcoming important changes or improvements. And we may use the information to help make content, notices and ads more relevant.
We generally do not provide to anyone else any personally identifiable information relating to the Services users other than information that users post on public interactive sections of the Site. We may use anonymous information gathered from our Sites for the management and improvement of those Sites. We reserve the right to disclose any information collected via the Services, for any lawful purpose or to prevent harm to us or others, in our discretion, subject to applicable law. For example, we may disclose information to government regulators, law enforcement authorities or alleged victims of identity theft. Generally, we automatically collect broad demographic information, such as the number and frequency of users accessing Notiflux. We may use this data in aggregate form ("Aggregate Data"), that is, as a statistical measure, but not in a manner that would identify you personally. This type of aggregate data enables us and third parties authorized by us to figure out how often individuals use parts of Notiflux so that we can analyse and improve them.
This statistical information is not Personal Information and cannot be tied back to you, your Account, your web browser or your device.
We may combine personal information from one service with information, including personal information, from other Evasium services.
We will ask for your consent before using information for a purpose other than those set out in this Privacy Policy.

Evasium Account
The Evasium Account is a service that allows you to sign in to Evasium products, websites and services. You can create an Evasium account by providing an email address, a password and a username. You can choose to provide further information about yourself during and after the registration process, for example, your name, gender and other security information, such as an alternate email address. We will use your security information for security purposes only - for instance, to verify your identity or to reset your password if you cannot access your Evasium account. We will not directly reveal any of your email addresses to other users.
Upon creating an Evasium account, we will send you an email asking you to verify that you are the owner of the email address associated with your account. This is designed to verify the validity of the email address and help prevent email addresses from being used without the permission of their owners. You must therefore use an email address that you own on an email service that you have access to.

Transparency and choice: accessing and updating your personal information
Many of our services let you share information with others. Our services provide you with different options on sharing and removing your content.
You can access the personal information in your Evasium account at any time by visiting your profile page. You can change your username, password, email address and other profile information.
You may also choose to close your Evasium account at any time from your settings page.
Whenever you use our services, we aim to provide you with access to your personal information. You can ask us for additional information we may have about your account. You have a right to access, modify, correct, or delete your personal information controlled by Evasium regarding your profile and your content. We may reject requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort (for example, developing a new system or fundamentally changing an existing practice), risk the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup systems).
We aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from our services, we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems. When you join Notiflux, you acknowledge that information you provide on your profile can be seen by others and used by us as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.
The personal information you provide to us may reveal or allow others to identify aspects of your life that are not expressly stated on your profile (for example, your picture or your name may reveal your gender). By providing personal information to us when you create or update your account and profile, you are expressly and voluntarily accepting the terms and conditions of Evasium’s Terms of Use and freely accepting and agreeing to our processing of your personal information in ways set out by this Privacy Policy. Supplying to us any information deemed “sensitive” by applicable law is entirely voluntary on your part. You have the right to withdraw or modify your consent to Evasium’s collection and processing of the information you provide at any time, in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy and the User Agreement, by changing your account settings or by closing your account.

Links
Our Sites and Services contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, the terms of use, or any of the content of such websites. The linked sites may collect personal information from you that is not subject to our control.

Data security
Evasium will do its best to secure any private information submitted to us by our users. However, no data transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of this data. You use the service at your own risk, and are responsible for taking reasonable measures to secure your account (such as carefully maintaining the secrecy of your password).

Evasium will not disclose your information unless required by law
We may disclose – or preserve for future disclosure – some information relating to a user if we believe, after due consideration, that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, or valid legal process. If we are going to release your information, we will do our best to provide you with notice in advance.
We retain the personal information you provide while your account is in existence or as needed to provide you services. We may also retain your personal information even after you have closed your account if retention is reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations, meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes between Members, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce this Privacy Policy and our User Agreement.
Other extraordinary circumstances may require disclosure, in an emergency or to keep our services running; when we believe it's necessary to prevent imminent and serious harm to a person; or to address fraud, security, or spam; or to protect our rights or property.

Your private information is never for sale
This means that we will only share your personal data with your consent, and after letting you know what information will be shared and with whom, unless it is otherwise permitted in this policy. Anonymous, aggregated information that cannot be linked back to an individual user may be made available to third parties.

Changes to this policy
Notiflux is a dynamic, innovative platform, which means we are always seeking to improve the services we offer you. We often introduce new features, some of which may result in the collection of new information. We reserve the right to change this policy to meet the changing needs of our services, or for any other reason.
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time by updating this page, with the new terms taking effect on the date of posting. You can determine if any changes were made to this Privacy Policy by noting the day that the Privacy Policy was last updated.
If the changes are significant or substantially alter your rights (for example, if we make a major change in the way we collect or use information), we will provide a prominent notice (by posting an announcement on or within Notiflux or sending you an email notification). More minor changes may only be highlighted by the privacy policy link in the footer of our website. A user is bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when he or she uses Notiflux after such changes have been posted.
